Australian singer & actress, Helen Reddy has died at the age of 78 on Tuesday in Los Angeles. She became an emblem of feminism with the 1972 smash “I Am Woman.”
Her daughter and son, Traci, and Jordan confirmed the news via Facebook & said, “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Reddy, on the afternoon of September 29th, 2020 in Los Angeles. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and a truly formidable woman. Our hearts are broken. But we take comfort in the knowledge that her voice will live on forever.”

“I am v sad to announce that my first wife of 18 years and the mother of my two oldest, Traci & Jordan, has died.” Her ex-husband and one-time manager, Jeff Wald, said, “Traci spent the morning with Helen and she passed soon after under the excellent care of the Motion & Television Home.”
Helen Maxine Reddy was an Australian singer, actress, and activist who held dual Australian and American citizenship. Born in Melbourne, Victoria, to a show-business family, Reddy started her career as an entertainer at age four.
She announced her retirement from performing in 2002, however, returned to the stage a decade later for a few one-off performances. In 2017, she performed to a brand new era of girls who’ve been reared on her trademark tune when she performed it a cappella alongside actress Jamie Lee Curtis and different celebrities on the 2017 Women’s March.
Meanwhile, In 2015, she was diagnosed with dementia, per the Sydney Morning Herald. A Unjoo Moon-directed biopic of her life, aptly titled I Am Woman, which stars Tilda Cobham-Hervey, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival last fall.
