American comedian, best known for his nightclub performances in Las Vegas, Nevada, Shecky Greene died at the age of 97.

His widow, Marie Musso Green, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that her husband died early Sunday (Dec. 31) at their home. She said her husband of 41 years died of natural causes.

He was known for his nightclub performances in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he became a headliner in the 1950s and ’60s. In TV, he guest-starred on such television shows as Love, American Style, and Combat!, and later Laverne & Shirley and Mad About You.

During World War II Greene served in the United States Navy for three years and was discharged in 1944. He was briefly but more than once enrolled at Wright Junior College.
