The release of the song “Closer Than This” comes a little over a week after Jimin and bandmate Jungkook enrolled for his required military duty. The two were the final members of the boyband to enlist, and all seven members of BTS are presently serving their military service.

The music video begins with a behind-the-scenes shot of Jimin brainstorming lyrics for the song. Later in the film, clips of BTS at fan meetups and concerts from their debut to the present are compiled.

Before enlisting, Jimin released his first solo album, “FACE” in March 2023. NME’s Rhian Daly gave the album four stars. He added, “If Jimin’s mission on this record was to stretch himself creatively and distill that dissonance in these songs, it’s one he’s accomplished.”
