Kim Kardashian West has filed for divorce from American rapper, Kanye West, after almost 7 years of marriage, TMZ reported.
According to the TMZ report, Kim is asking for joint legal and physical custody of the couple’s 4 kids. Sources with direct knowledge tell TMZ Kanye West is fine with the joint custody arrangement, and we’re told both Kim and Ye are committed to co-parenting together.
In July 2020, West suggested he wanted a divorce in a troubling series of tweets that referenced, among other things, Kardashian’s 2018 meeting with Meek Mill at a criminal justice reform summit and her efforts to “lock him up.”
Then, Kardashian issued a statement about West’s mental health: “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand.” She continued, “I kindly ask that the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this.”
In the early 2000s, Kim and Kanye met and he first made an appearance on “Keeping up with the Kardashians” in a 2010 episode when he visited her and Kourtney’s DASH store in NYC. Kim, at the time, was dating Kris Humphries. Kanye would later profess his love for Kim in 2012 with his “Cold” track. They started dating soon thereafter.
