The Queen of Rock’n’roll Tina Turner died on Wednesday at the age of 83. Her publicist Bernard Doherty announced the death without disclosing the cause. Her family confirmed the news to Rolling Stone and said she died peacefully. Turner gained popularity with her amazing stage presence, rasping vocals, and energy.

Her career began as duo Ike and Tina Turner back in 1957. Some of their best works include Proud Marry, It’s Gonna Work Out Fine, and Nutbush City Limits. Tina started her solo career and established herself as an impactful singer and dancer as well. The multi-talented also tried her hand at choreography, songwriting, record producing and dancing.

She was a legendary artist, and a biographical film adapted from her autobiography was released. Tina Turner set the then Guinness World record for the largest paying audience for a solo artist during the 1988 tour- “Break Every World Tour”.

Debbie Allen posted, “She was like the divine feminine incarnate — this incredible Black woman who was a rockstar,” Allen told Blitzer of Turner. “She just like jumped across the labels of what music she was supposed to be singing. She made it what it was.”

Beyonce also paid respects to her and shared a note,  “My beloved queen. I love you endlessly. I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way. You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done.”

Post the news aired that Tina Turner dies, other artists paid respects to her including Kim Gordon, Mick Jagger, Brian Wilson, Billy Corgan, Shiela E., Grandmaster Flash, Paloma Faith, etc.
