Bob Bryar, American musician, audio engineer, and My Chemical Romance drummer, died at 44.
The band confirmed on Instagram. “It is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Bob Bryar, our former bandmate and an important part of the history of My Chemical Romance,” their post reads. “We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family at this time. May he rest in peace.” He was 44.
Bryar was the band’s longest-tenured and last official drummer, performing in the rock group from 2004 until his departure in 2010. Also, Bryar joined My Chemical Romance shortly after the release of the band’s second studio album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge in 2004, replacing former drummer Matt Pelissier.
