Brenton Wood, the American singer and songwriter known for his three 1967 hit singles, “The Oogum Boogum Song”, “Gimme Little Sign”, and “Baby You Got It”, died at age 83.

On Friday, Wood passed away at his Moreno Valley, California home, surrounded by friends and family, his manager and assistant, Manny Gallegos, confirmed to The Post. TMZ officially confirmed the news.

Though an official cause of death has not been revealed, Gallegos told The Post, “It just was his old age. He was 83 years old. “He went into his sleep peacefully. The love that he gave us, God took him the same way,” he said.

The manager also shared a final message from Wood to his fans: “He said, ‘Catch you on the rebound,’” referring to a 1967 song and the title of his final tour, which wrapped up over Valentine’s Day weekend in 2024.

In 1972, he founded his label, Prophesy Records, and later released music under Mr. Wood Records.
