David Lynch, an American visionary filmmaker, visual artist, musician, and actor, died at the age of 78. The cause of death has not been revealed yet.
“We would appreciate some privacy at this time,” Lynch’s family wrote. “There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole,’” the news was revealed on the filmmaker and musician’s official Facebook page.
Following his death, fans and colleagues worldwide have expressed profound sadness, celebrating his legacy for its unique exploration of human consciousness and the bizarre elements of life. His influential works, including ‘Blue Velvet’, ‘Mulholland Drive’, and the TV series ‘Twin Peaks’, have left an indelible mark on cinema and television.
He was awarded numerous accolades in a more than fifty-year profession, including the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement in 2006 and an Honorary Academy Award in 2019.
Lynch’s other artistic endeavors included his work as a musician, encompassing the studio albums BlueBOB (2001), Crazy Clown Time (2011), and The Big Dream (2013), as well as painting and photography.
