Gorillaz, led by Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett, are set to headline a four-night residency at East London’s Copper Box Arena, where they’ll perform full renditions of their classic albums. The virtual band has released eight critically acclaimed studio albums since debuting with the Tomorrow Comes Today EP in 2000, solidifying their legacy in alternative and animated music culture.
The shows will take place on August 29, 30, and September 2, 3, and coincide with the upcoming House of Kong exhibition, which will take place at the same venue between August 8 and Sept. 3.
Each night of Gorillaz’s upcoming residency at London’s Copper Box Arena will showcase a different iconic performance. On opening night, August 29, the band will play their 2001 self-titled debut album in full, recreating the immersive experience of their early concerts. Much like their 2001 show at London’s Scala, the musicians will perform behind a curtain while the animated avatars of Murdoc, Noodle, Russel, and 2D are projected to the audience, delivering a nostalgic and visually captivating experience.
