Mariah Carey is celebrating the 20th anniversary of her iconic album The Emancipation of Mimi with a special reissue packed with bonus tracks, remixes, and star-studded collaborations. Originally released on April 12, 2005, the Grammy-winning album marked a major comeback in Carey’s career. Just one day before the record’s milestone birthday, she announced the deluxe edition, reigniting excitement among fans eager to revisit one of pop and R&B’s most defining records.
“I’m really happy to celebrate ‘Mimi’s Emancipation’ with this special anniversary re-release,” Carey said in a statement at the time. “While working on this edition, I got to relive all the memories from this pivotal moment in my personal and professional life.”
Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi 20th anniversary edition is a nostalgic journey for longtime fans, featuring the original 14-track masterpiece plus five carefully curated bonus cuts.
Matching the 2020 vinyl reissue, the expanded album includes fan favorites like “Don’t Forget About Us,” “Sprung,” “Secret Love,” and the Jermaine Dupri collaboration “Makin’ It Last All Night (What It Do),” along with an alternate remix of the chart-topping ballad “We Belong Together.” This celebratory release is a testament to Carey’s enduring legacy in pop and R&B music.
Remixes from the likes of Solange, Kaytranada, David Morales, and Scott Storch are also included, along with a cappella renditions of “Shake It Off,” “Circles,” and “Joy Ride,” while her 2024 American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special performance of “We Belong Together” closes the package.
