Footage released on Wednesday (July 16) by Belgian outlet VRT NWS shows flames engulfing Tomorrowland 2025’s mainstage, the festival’s largest gathering area. Additional videos obtained by Billboard from attendees on-site captured the stage being destroyed, with massive plumes of smoke billowing into the sky as the fire tore through the structure.

The festival had not yet started, and attendees were not on site, although event staff were present. A statement provided to Billboard by a representative for the festival states that no one was injured during the incident.

The statement also says that the festival campsite, called DreamVille, will open Thursday (July 17) as planned, that festival-related activities in Brussels and Antwerp will take place as planned and that “we are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday). More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.”

Tomorrowland 2025 is set to kick off this Friday, July 18, running through Sunday, July 20, with a second weekend scheduled for July 25-27. As the world’s largest dance music festival, Tomorrowland typically draws around 400,000 attendees across both weekends, uniting fans from around the globe for an unforgettable celebration of electronic music.

According to VRT NWS, emergency services are currently on site, and police spokesperson Joris Van Camp said in a statement that officials are “given maximum space to do their work. People’s safety is our top priority. We advise people experiencing odor nuisance to close their windows and doors and stay out of the smoke.”

The 2025 event lineup, the 19th edition of Tomorrowland, includes the who’s who of global dance music, with artists such as Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, Armin van Buuren, Charlotte de Witte, David Guetta, Hardwell, Nervo, John Summit, Fisher, Amelie Lens, Alok, Agents of Time, Miss Monique, The Blessed Madonna all on the bill.
