Unk, an American DJ, hype man, and rapper, best known for his 2006 snap hit “Walk It Out”, died at 43. His family shared on social media Friday (Jan. 24).
His wife, Sherkita Long-Platt, and one of his former labels, Big Oomp Records, confirmed the news, “Please respect me and my family. I just lost my husband and my kids just lost their father. Our life will never be the same. I LOVE YOU ANTHONY FOREVER.”. A cause of death was not provided. Unk was 43 years old.
Platt began spinning records in 1998, and, after meeting DJ Jelly and DJ Montay, joined their DJ entourage, the Southern Style DJs. They performed for high school parties, proms, pep rallies, and other events around Georgia.
He released the album Beat’n Down Yo Block! in 2006 led by the single “Walk It Out.” In 2008, he released the album 2econd Season, supported by the single “Show Out” to moderate success.
