She produced the album with her longtime collaborator Ovy on the Drums. The album, KG0516 follows the format of a flight number and stands for Karol G’s name, followed by numbers representing May 16, 2006, the day she signed her first record deal.
She shared the album news via social media and wrote that[translation in English], ‘My album is out 💖 and it feels like I was born again ♥ ️🌹 REAL! I put my whole life into every word I wrote, to every video I recorded, to every detail I planned 🌈✈️💫 Seeing it out now, was the only reason I didn’t sleep the last 2 months !!! I do not know if it will be number one if it will have records or not but in my heart,
She added, ‘IT IS THE HARDEST FUKIN ALBUM OF 2021 and I just hope that if there is something they want to say, that they feel and do not dare, some of my songs will be let them express !!!
