The Canadian singer The Weeknd has donated $500,000 to Black Lives Matters in various organizations amid protests demanding justice for George Floyd.
The receipt shows, he has donated $200,000 to the Black Lives Matter Global Network, $100,000 to National Bail Out, a black-led collective of abolitionist organisers, and $200,000 to American football quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights campaign.

The Weeknd shared a donation receipt on his Instagram with the caption, “keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives.”
“Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it’s a small amount. #blacklivesmatter,” He continued.

The news comes after Drake donated $100,000 to the National Bail Out on Monday.
Drake shared a receipt for his $100,000 donation to the charity after songwriter Mustafa the Poet urged him to exceed his own contribution.

The donations come as racial pressure continues to boil over across the US, sparked by the senseless killing of black man George Floyd by white police officer Derek Chauvin in Minneapolis on May 25th.
